Steam innovATION FESTIVAL

Matera, Italy | September 11-12, 2026

Where students turn ideas into reality

The STEAM Innovation Final Festival in Matera is where students from the four Countries involved in our Creative Europe Project, step forward to share what they have created.

After months of creating, testing, and learning, students will come together to show what they have built, imagined, and discovered through STEAM.

This is a festival where projects come to life: performances, prototypes, experiments, digital works, and creative solutions to real-world challenges. Participants can explore, listen, ask questions, and meet the young people behind the ideas.

Hosted in the inspiring city of Matera, the festival connects education, culture, and innovation in one living space, showing how learning can be creative, inclusive, and meaningful.

More than an event, the festival is an invitation: to rethink education and to see what’s possible when science and creativity grow together.

The STEAM Innovation Final Festival in Matera brings together around 100 students (between online and in person participants) from Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy to present the projects they have developed through the STEAM Innovation programme.

For almost a year, at least 50 students per country will work in their schools and communities, exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through creative projects.

In Matera, they will finally share their work in a public festival and participants will be able to:

  • explore student-led exhibitions of prototypes, experiments, and digital projects;
  • attend performances, music, and theatre pieces descriptions inspired by scientific themes;
  • meet the 3 selected students from each country and hear the stories behind the ideas of their entire work group;
  • join moments of exchange with teachers, artists, researchers, and educators.

The goal of the festival is to show how STEAM education can be hands-on, inclusive, and meaningful, when students are given the space to create, experiment, and collaborate.

From all the amazing projects, three teams from each country will be selected. One student from each winning team will then travel to the International STEAM Innovation Festival in Matera to represent their project.
